Daily/Nightly MI Auto-publish

It would be highly beneficial to have the option to schedule an automatic, daily publication of all updated tasks. This would significantly reduce the volume of notifications sent throughout the day and minimize the risk of communication fatigue among resources.

Currently, the project management capabilities in SI are notably restrictive—particularly due to the inexplicable inaccessibility of the calendar while working within the Gantt scheduling interface. Coordinating resources across multiple projects becomes exceedingly difficult when the full schedule is not visible during the planning process.

Introducing an automatic end-of-day task publication feature would address two major issues:

1) It would reduce notification overload by consolidating updates into a single, predictable batch.

2) It would safeguard against task changes being forgotten and unpublished, which can lead to technicians receiving incorrect schedules and being dispatched improperly.

One of the most limiting aspects of SI is that the Gantt chart window is modal, requiring it to remain in the foreground and blocking interaction with all other SI components—including the calendar, which is essential for effective schedule planning. This design forces users to create planning tasks without the ability to verify resource availability or accurately estimate task durations based on current project data. This introduces a high likelihood of scheduling conflicts and inefficiencies.

While there is some levity in describing planning tasks as “hopes and prayers,” the reality is that coordinating resources in SI is extremely cumbersome. Assessing whether project milestones can be realistically met demands significant back-and-forth effort. The process typically involves creating planning tasks in the Gantt chart, saving and exiting, opening the calendar to check for conflicts, and repeating the process as adjustments cascade through dependent tasks—each change prompting additional rounds of review and modification. It's an inefficient workflow that undermines productivity.

This bottleneck often leads to overlooked notifications. After making task adjustments, it’s easy to forget to check the “Notify All Resources” box—either resulting in excessive notifications if left enabled, or critical communication gaps if disabled and later forgotten. The lack of synchronization between SI and MI calendars only compounds the problem, leading to technicians being misdirected due to outdated or unpublished schedules.

While I’m unsure whether DT Cloud offers improvements in this area, we are not currently subscribers. We're doing our best to leverage SI for project management, but the experience so far has been extremely challenging. This portion of the platform would greatly benefit from significantly more effort from the development team.
