Add prefix to existing component ID without changing the existing id numbering

We use a location prefix(typically room number) in a component ID. And some times a room changes name both after project is finished, or even during the time we work on a project. then it would be useful to change parts of the component ID without changing the numbers.
Also when importing old projects, we risk having duplicate compnent IDs. And that causes problems when importing two or more old projects into one.
